CrowdStrike introduces agentic identity provider for AI agents

Futuristic Hand Reaching for AI Technology Interface Representing Artificial Intelligence and Data Management in a Digital World. Glyphic.

CrowdStrike has introduced a new Agentic Identity Provider designed to address the unique challenges of managing artificial intelligence agents within enterprise systems. This new system aims to establish the identity of AI agents before granting them access, a departure from traditional human-centric identity management, according to a recent report by Silicon Angle.

The shift is driven by the rapidly growing number of AI agents, with estimates suggesting approximately 90 AI agents for every human employee. Unlike human identities, AI agents lack a single owner or a face behind a login, necessitating a purpose-built solution. CrowdStrike's Agentic Identity Provider functions as a precursor to authorization systems like Continuous Identity, which was detailed in June following the acquisition of SGNL Inc.

This new provider focuses on definitively identifying what an AI agent is, a step currently often managed through less secure methods like service accounts and API keys. This development is part of CrowdStrike's broader strategy for an 'Agentic SOC,' enabling coordinated, cross-domain investigations at machine speed to counter increasingly sophisticated autonomous attacks.
