Okta has unveiled a working group within the OpenID Foundation that advances the new Interoperability Profile for Security Identity in the Enterprise standard. The group's creation was prompted by mounting variations in security protocol integration, SC Media reports.

Microsoft, SGNL, Ping Identity, Capital One, and Beyond Identity have already signed on as part of the group that would help establish the IPSIE standard, Okta said, which aims to ease identity management and user cross-authentication integration.

Okta noted that IPSIE integration is already being supported by dozens of cloud and software-as-a-service (SaaS) providers' offerings.

"Okta is focused on elevating the entire technology industry to be better protected from attacks. Our goal with IPSIE is to standardize identity security and help foster an open ecosystem where building and using enterprise applications that are secure by default is easy for everyone," said Okta co-founder and CEO Todd McKinnon during the Oktane 2024 conference.
