SC Media reports that staffing shortfall has prompted the absence of round-the-clock cybersecurity coverage among almost two-thirds of organizations this year.
Organizations' leaders were also claimed by 48% of IT leaders worldwide to not regard cybersecurity as their responsibility, while more than half noted inconsistent corporate attitudes toward cybersecurity risks, a survey from Trend Micro showed. Additional findings revealed a variety of answers for organizational leaders who should be accountable for cybersecurity-related business risks, indicating inadequate reporting lines. Despite most IT leaders expressing worries regarding their organizations' attack surface, only 35% reported having adequate attack surface management techniques, while only 34% noted plans to adhere to the National Institute of Standards and Technology's Cybersecurity Framework and other regulatory frameworks. "While this phenomenon is not rapidly worsening, the numbers remain pretty daunting. We previously found that over 40% of IT leaders believe their organization’s attack surface is 'spiraling out of control.'"
