Ransomware Attacks Orange Business Services, Some Customer Data Exposed

Orange Business Services, a major telecommunications service provider with an Top 200 MSSP business unit, has suffered a ransomware attack, BleepingComputer reports.

Orange Business Services offers collaborative workspaces, cybersecurity, data intelligence, connectivity, cloud, Internet of Things, and mobile connectivity services.

Key details from the report Bleeping Computer report include:

  • Orange suffered the ransomware attack starting July 4, 2020, and extending into July 5, 2020.
  • Nefilim hackers gained access to roughly data from 20 Orange Pro/SME customers.
  • As part of the ransom operators' leak, a 339MB archive file was published titled 'Orange_leak_part1.rar' that contained data that was allegedly stolen from Orange during the attack.

The U.S. Secret Service recently warned that hackers are increasingly targeting MSPs. The warning comes nearly two years after the FBI issued a similar warning about hackers targeting MSPs.

Orange is the latest in a growing list of major IT service providers, MSPs and MSSPs that have suffered ransomware attacks. Other recent victims include Cognizant, DXC subsidiary xChanging, and IT staffing firm Collabera.
