Palo Alto Networks has announced the Cloud NGFW (Next-Generation Firewall) solution for Amazon Web Services (AWS) to help organizations secure their AWS deployments.

Cloud NGFW integrates with AWS Firewall Manager and supports:

  • Advanced URL Filtering: Uses deep learning to help organizations mitigate zero-day web threats in real time.
  • App-ID: Controls traffic to reduce the risk of a cyberattack.
  • Threat Prevention: Helps stop known vulnerability exploits, malware and command-and-control communications.

Cloud NGFW can be procured in AWS Marketplace and set up and integrated with AWS services, Palo Alto Networks said. It also uses AWS Gateway Load Balancer to help organizations meet unpredictable throughput needs.

What Does Palo Alto Networks Cloud NGFW for AWS Mean for Global Organizations?

Cloud NGFW shifts operational responsibility for AWS to Palo Alto Networks, the company stated. The solution lets Palo Alto Networks manage an organization's AWS infrastructure, and it enables the organization to free up time and resources it can use to complete high-value tasks.

In addition, Cloud NGFW offers support for API, CloudFormation and Terraform templates, Palo Alto Networks noted. This ensures organizations can use Cloud NGFW to automate their end-to-end workflows.

Palo Alto Networks and AWS: MSSP Partnerships

The new cloud firewall service arrives as both Palo Alto Networks and AWS continue to build relationships with MSSPs.

Indeed, Palo Alto Networks has been making a partner push that includes an XMDR partner specialization as well as new multi-tenancy capabilities for MSPs. Meanwhile, AWS promotes an MSSP competency and will emphasize MSSP relationships during the AWS re:Inforce 2022 conference, which is scheduled for July in Boston, Massachusetts.
