Endpoint security software provider Cybereason and Intel have launched a joint solution to protect organizations against ransomware attacks, according to a prepared statement.
The solution uses CPU-based threat detection to identify and eradicate ransomware, Cybereason CEO Lior Div said. It leverages Intel Hardware Shield to guard against ransomware attacks at machine speed without disruptive CPU resource consumption.
In addition, the solution integrates Intel Threat Detection Technology (TDT) capabilities with the Cybereason Defense Platform, Cybereason indicated. The integration simultaneously delivers ransomware intelligence for threat detection and helps organizations improve their overall security performance.

Cybereason-Intel Joint Solution Protects Against 'Double-Extortion' Ransomware Attacks
Along with the aforementioned security capabilities, the Cybereason-Intel joint solution can help organizations protect against "double-extortion" ransomware attacks, Cybereason noted.
During double-extortion attacks, cybercriminals use ransomware to encrypt a victim's data and hold it for ransom and exfiltrate the data with the threat of making it publicly available, Cybereason stated. As such, double-extortion attacks can undermine an organization's data backup strategy.
To combat double-extortion attacks, the joint solution uses the Cybereason Defense Platform and Intel TDT to provide full-stack visibility, Cybereason said. In doing so, the solution ensures that organizations can identify and block ransomware attacks before their data can be encrypted or exfiltrated.
Cybereason Launches XDR Security Solution
The Cybereason-Intel joint solution comes after Cybereason in November 2020 released an XDR (Extended Detection and Response) solution to help global organizations detect and address network attacks.
XDR uses endpoint telemetry, behavioral analytics and integrations with Cybereason partners to help organizations automatically identify anomalous user behaviors and insider threats and understand why security incidents have occurred, the company indicated. It also correlates attack activity and presents the intelligence as malicious operation visualizations.
Cybereason offers threat detection and response, next-generation antivirus and threat hunting solutions. It protects organizations against endpoint attacks and delivers analysis of malicious operations.
