Dell Technologies and Secureworks, a Top 250 MSSP and Dell subsidiary, have announced a subscription-based managed detection and response (MDR) cybersecurity service.
The service, Dell Technologies Managed Detection and Response powered by Secureworks Taegis XDR, provides 24/7 security across organizations' endpoint devices, data center networks and cloud environments, the companies said. In doing so, the service helps organizations guard against and remediate a wide range of cyber threats and improve their security posture.
This is the latest step in Secureworks' ongoing transformation beyond traditional MSSP services. The company has spent more than a year building various SaaS-centric intellectual property (IP).
How Does the MDR Service Work?
Dell Technologies Managed Detection and Response uses Secureworks Taegis XDR to collect cyber threat data and analytics from thousands of organizations, the companies said. It allows organizations to leverage these insights to monitor, detect and investigate threats and automate threat response.
In addition, the service helps organizations deploy Taegis security controls and integrate its technologies across their data sources, the companies noted. If Taegis identifies a threat, Dell Technologies security analysts can perform an investigation and provide recommended actions and step-by-step instructions to contain and remediate it.
Dell Technologies Managed Detection and Response powered by Secureworks Taegis XDR is now available in North America via the Dell ProManage service. In addition, the service will be available as a standalone service globally on May 10, 2021.
A Closer Look at Taegis
Taegis is a SaaS solution that uses analytics to help organizations detect cyber threats, conduct threat investigations and speed up threat response, Secureworks stated. The solution automatically correlates endpoint, network and cloud activity to identify known and unknown threats.
Secureworks projects Taegis to reach $150 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) by the end of January 2022, the company said in March 2021. In addition, Secureworks expects overall Taegis annual revenue will be at least $90 million to $100 million by that time.
Dell is the majority owner of Secureworks. From time to time, rumors surface that Dell may want to spin off or sell the MSSP. The opposite rumor also occasionally surfaces, suggesting Dell may wind up acquiring all of Secureworks. Neither move has actually surfaced, however.
Dell has, however, sold off some assets -- including RSA Security and a forthcoming deal to spin-off VMware.
