VMware today introduced vSphere Platinum Edition for application and infrastructure security, vSphere 6.7 Update 1, a new version of its vSAN hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) solution and updates to its vRealize cloud management platform (CMP) at its VMworld 2018 conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.vSphere Platinum Edition combines vSphere's native security capabilities with the VMware AppDefense data center endpoint security product, according to a prepared statement. It enables vSphere administrators to leverage machine learning and behavioral analytics to deliver secure applications and infrastructure.With vSphere 6.7 Update 1, vSphere administrators can use an HTML5-based vSphere Client to manage virtual infrastructure, VMware indicated. vSphere 6.7 also includes vMotion live migration and snapshot capabilities for NVIDIA Quadro vDWS-powered virtual machines (VMs).vSAN 6.7 Update 1 is designed to help organizations speed up HCI adoption, VMware noted. It provides users with access to granular diagnostic tools and historical data to support HCI environments. Meanwhile, VMware has announced the following vRealize offerings:The aforementioned vSphere, vSAN and vRealize offerings are expected to be available by Nov. 2.
- vRealize Operations 7.0: Enables users to control hybrid cloud workload placement.
- vRealize Automation 7.5: Allows users to leverage a programmable provisioning and application operations approach to deliver developer-friendly infrastructure.
- vRealize Suite 2018: Provides a hybrid cloud management platform that helps developers build applications in any cloud environment.
