BlackBerry Guard MDR Taps Exabeam for SIEM and XDR Security Services

BlackBerry has expanded its MDR (managed detection and response) service to support managed extended detection and response (XDR) capabilities. The new BlackBerry Guard 2.0 offering leverages SIEM (security information and event management) and XDR software from Exabeam.

Take a closer look, and MSSP partners will notice that Exabeam Fusion SIEM and XDR solutions now integrate across such security software as:

Customers can gain cross-tool threat hunting services that "automatically correlate data from mobile devices, servers, users and networks to quickly detect potential threats in real-time, visible from a single console," the companies said. We're checking to see if the XDR service is available to MSSPs.

Exabeam SIEM and XDR Business Background

Exabeam is a security analytics software company that promotes XDR and SIEM capabilities to MSSP partners.

Exabeam raised $200 million in Series F funding and hired a new CEO in June 2021 to further accelerate the business amid plans for a potential IPO (initial public offering). New CEO Michael DeCesare -- a ForeScout and McAfee veteran -- has IPO experience. The funding round valued Exabeam at $2.4 billion. The Owl Rock division of Blue Owl Capital led the round, with support from existing investors Acrew Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Norwest Venture Partners

Exabeam’s partner program as of June 2021 spanned more than 400 reseller, distributor, system integrator, MSSP, MDR and consulting companies globally, the company said at the time. Also, Exabeam’s software featured more than 500 technology integrations.

Endpoint Security, MDR and XDR Partnerships

Multiple MSP-focused security companies have been partnering up to gain MDR and XDR capabilities.

For instance, OpenText partnered with Blackpoint Cyber to launch an MDR service in October 2021. The relationship extends to OpenText's Webroot business, which provides multi-layer security software to MSPs in the SMB sector.
