XDR security startup Stellar Cyber has hired Cylance veteran Brian Stoner to accelerate the company's MSSP partner program push. Stoner's official title: VP of service providers.
Stoner is well-known across the IT channel and MSSP partner ecosystems. He previously held key channel, alliance and MSSP-focused positions at ALTR and endpoint security software provider Cylance (acquired by Blackberry in 2018).
Stoner arrives at Stellar Cyber at a key time. The Open-XDR security platform provider raised $7.1 million in an expanded Series A financing round in early 2020. An earlier portion of the round raised $13.2 million.
Stellar Cyber: XDR, SOCaaS and MDRaaS for MSSPs
Stellar Cyber's Open-XDR software ingests data from existing security tools, curates this information and uses it to provide cyber threat alerts.
Moreover, Stellar Cyber offers security operations center-as-a-service (SOCaaS) and managed detection and response-as-a-service (MDRaaS) for MSSPs. Both offerings are built on Open-XDR and accessible via Stellar Cyber’s partner program.
True believers include CyFlare, a Top 250 MSSP that leverages Stellar Cyber's SOCaaS capabilities, the MSSP disclosed in June 2020.
