SafeGuard Cyber, a Charlottesville, Virginia-based provider of cybersecurity and compliance solutions for email and communication-based threats, has appointed John McCabe to lead its partner relationships across the MSSP, MDR and XDR landscape, the company announced on September 1.
Getting to Know SafeGuard’s New MSSP Leader
Nation-states and other advanced threat actors have increasingly focused on MSSPs and other technology supply chain companies in order to carry out large-scale attacks, SafeGuard Cyber notes. In response, CEO Chris Lehman elevated McCabe from vice president of Channel Sales to that of global head of Strategic Partnerships. Explaining the rationale behind the move, Lehman said:
"John's track record and experience make him the ideal person to lead our strategic partnerships efforts, and he will play a critical role in expanding our business relationships, particularly within the MSSP industry. With threats increasing for MSSPs, there is a need for new security solutions that can prevent sophisticated attacks early on in the kill-chain. Our advanced social engineering detection platform makes it possible for companies to stop these hard-to-detect attacks, even when the threat actors move outside of email to target employees through new communications channels that are typically unmonitored and unprotected."
SafeGuard Cyber touts McCabe’s 20 years of experience helping build or grow channel organizations with companies such as FireEye, Cofense, Axonius, XM Cyber and Fidelis Cybersecurity. He previously served as vice president of Global Partner Sales at ThirdPartyTrust, where he helped implement a 100% channel sales strategy. He was named the Partnership Leaders 2021 Rising Channel Executive of the Year.
A Closer Look at SafeGuard Cyber
SafeGuard Cyber detects cyberattacks and identifies risk by understanding how humans interact and communicate, the company said. Its Natural Language Understanding (NLU)-based SaaS platform offers visibility and detection of phishing, account takeover, impersonation, business email compromise (BEC), insider threats and malware attacks that span the full range of modern business communications channels.
In addition, SafeGuard Cyber’s patented NLU platform protects 30 communication channels across 52 languages — a product for uniform detection and response to communication threats, risks and policy violations. The company's cloud-based Machine Learning capability provides compliance solutions for governance and policy enforcement, which allow customers to communicate through modern apps and social networking.
In May 2021, SafeGuard Cyber launched Illuminate, a partner program focused on third-party cloud application security, MSSP Alert reported.
