The Check Point Software Technologies CloudGuard Cloud Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP) now features the Effective Risk Management (ERM) engine to help security teams eliminate misconfigurations, overprivileged access and other vulnerabilities, according to a prepared statement.
ERM is a contextual artificial intelligence and risk-scoring engine that ensures security teams "no longer have to manually figure out which alerts to remediate first," Check Point vice president of Cloud Security TJ Gonen said.
The engine prioritizes risks and provides remediation guidance based on workload posture, identity permissions, attack path analysis and an application's business value. As such, ERM helps security teams focus on critical threats and "administer the 'minimal effective dose' of security for maximum impact," Check Point indicated.
Check Point Enhances CloudGuard's CNAPP Capabilities
Along with incorporating ERM into CloudGuard, Check Point has announced the following CloudGuard CNAPP enhancements:
- Cloud Identity and Entitlement Management allows security teams to evaluate the effective permissions of users and cloud services, identify exposures and risks and automatically generate explicit least-privilege role recommendations to reduce access and revoke unused permissions.
- Agentless Workload Posture enables security teams to scan and identify misconfigurations, malware and other vulnerabilities across cloud workloads.
- Pipeline Security provides security teams with access to Check Point's Spectral developer solution's capabilities so they can detect and resolve cloud application vulnerabilities within CloudGuard.
CloudGuard ensures security teams can "take a prevention-first approach to their cloud security that's easy to manage," Gonen stated. As a result, security teams can use CloudGuard to move their organizations' workloads into the cloud "with confidence," Gonen pointed out.
Check Point's Quantum Cyber Security Platform Earns High Marks from Miercom
In addition to Check Point upgrading CloudGuard, the company announced its Quantum Cyber Security Platform "achieved a near-perfect score" in the Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) Security Benchmark 2023 report from Miercom, an independent network and security testing company.
Miercom reported Quantum had a 99.7% malware block rate and 99.9% phishing prevention rate, both of which helped Check Point's Quantum NGFW earn its Certified Secure Award.
Previously, Check Point in January 2023 launched a Cyber Center educational hub in Israel and integrated the Intel vPro platform’s Threat Detection Technology (TDT) into its Harmony Endpoint solution.
