HP Inc. has unveiled the HP DaaS Proactive Security Service, a device-as-a-service offering for files and web browsing. The company announced HP DaaS Proactive Security Service at this week's HP Reinvent: Worldwide Partner Forum in Houston, Texas.
HP DaaS Proactive Security Service combines hardware, threat analytics, proactive management and device lifecycle services, according to HP. Key features of HP DaaS Proactive Security Service include:
- Access to HP security experts who monitor security reports, analyze cyber threats and offer security recommendations.
- Real-time malware protection across computing endpoints.
- Threat isolation technology that contains zero-day email, web browser and file-based attacks.
In addition, HP DaaS Proactive Security Service offers a security self-assessment tool and scorecard and incident response and cyber insurance services from Aon. HP DaaS Proactive Security Service also is backed by Aon's $0 incident response retainer.
What Is DaaS, and What Does It Mean for MSSPs?
DaaS involves hardware leasing and end-to-end lifecycle services. It enables MSSPs to offer desktop computers, laptops and other hardware devices in conjunction with various services via a single, per-device, monthly contract. Comparatively, organizations can enroll in DaaS plans that allow them to add or subtract devices at any time.
As organizations search for ways to reduce their operating costs and improve their security posture, the push for DaaS may increase. Meanwhile, MSSPs that provide endpoint protection, managed detection and response (MDR) and other security services in combination with hardware devices could benefit from a global DaaS market that is projected to grow.
