1. Business Expansion: CrowdStrike is opening a new office in Singapore that will serve as a central hub for the company in Asia. The new office highlights CrowdStrike’s regional investment and will double the capacity of the previous facilities in Singapore.
2. Leadership Move: SkyePoint Decisions, a specialist in cybersecurity architecture, engineering and critical infrastructure solutions for the U.S. government, has promoted chief strategy officer Heather Conigliaro to president.
3. Cybersecurity Road Show Kicks Off: Critical Start, a managed detection and response (MDR) provider, has announced the kick-off of the Threat Protection Delivered Roadshow, a multi-city collection of workshops for security leaders conducted in partnership with Microsoft. The road show is designed to showcase Microsoft Defender threat protection solutions alongside Critical Start's managed extended detection and response (MXDR) service. Workshops will take place at Microsoft facilities throughout North America.
4. AI Security Incident Response Team Launches: The Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University has announced the formation of the Artificial Intelligence Security Incident Response Team (AISIRT) to help ensure the safe and effective development and use of AI. AISIRT will analyze and respond to threats and security incidents emerging from advances in AI and machine learning (ML). The team will also lead research efforts in incident analysis and response and vulnerability mitigation involving AI and ML systems.
5. U.S. Air Force Contract Award: ManTech, a provider of AI and mission-focused technology solutions, announced that it has won a $261 million U.S. Air Force contract to provide an array of mission IT, intelligent systems engineering (ISE), cybersecurity and other advanced technology solutions that will help accelerate U.S. air dominance.
6. Philadelphia 76ers Ink Security Partnership: Acronis and Sourcepass have become official partners of the Philadelphia 76ers NBA basketball franchise. The partnership will enhance the 76ers' data backup strategy using Acronis' technology solutions to protect critical data and systems. The Acronis #TeamUp Partner Program offers managed service providers (MSPs), like Sourcepass, an opportunity to join forces with global sports teams to keep their data safe, the company said.
7. Port Employee Information Hacked: DP World Australia, one of the country's largest ports operators, said on Tuesday that hackers had accessed files containing personal details of employees after a cyber incident earlier in November forced it to suspend operations for three days. The breach, spotted on November 10, crippled operations at the company, which manages about 40% of the goods that flow in and out of Australia, affecting its container terminals in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Western Australia's Fremantle. 8. Cyberattack on Japan Space Agency: Japan's space agency was likely hit by an unauthorized access attack to a network server, the government said on Wednesday, adding the incident did not involve sensitive information pertaining to rockets or satellites. The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) was reportedly not aware that the breach may have occurred sometime during the summer until they were contacted by police this fall.
