Microsoft has opened a public preview of its Microsoft Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) for Mac unified endpoint protection solution. The announcement comes after the software and cloud giant began a limited preview of Microsoft Defender ATP for Mac in March.
With the public preview, Microsoft Defender ATP customers who have activated the solution's on preview features can access Microsoft Defender ATP for Mac. They can leverage a variety of security features, including:
- Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR): Provides EDR coverage for Mac devices.
- Information Protection: Delivers data loss prevention (DLP).
- Machine Health and Compliance Reports: Offers health and compliance reports for Mac devices across an organization.
- Threat and Vulnerability Management: Uses a risk-based approach to discover, prioritize and remediate endpoint vulnerabilities and misconfigurations.
Microsoft Defender ATP for Mac also integrates with Microsoft Cloud App Security. In doing so, Microsoft Defender ATP for Mac provides visibility into cloud application use, including use of unsupported cloud services on an organization's Mac devices.
A Closer Look at Microsoft Defender ATP
Microsoft Defender ATP is a unified security solution that offers post-breach detection, automated investigation and response. The agentless solution does not require infrastructure or deployment and helps organizations automate their security efforts, according to Microsoft.
In addition, Microsoft Defender ATP works in combination with Microsoft 365 to detect cyber threats across an organization's devices, identities and information. It also exchanges signals with the Microsoft Intelligent Security Graph to provide insights into an organization's security posture.
Microsoft Azure Security Services
The technology giant has spent recent months strengthening its own security posture while launching new cyber tools for partners and customers. For instance, Microsoft company in March 2019 launched Atmosera, a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) service that runs on the Azure public cloud service.
