Smarsh Acquires Entreda, Plans to Expand Cybersecurity Portfolio

Smarsh, a company that provides capture, archiving, supervision and e-discovery solutions to financial services organizations, has acquired cybersecurity risk and compliance management company Entreda for an undisclosed sum.

Entreda will continue to operate under the leadership of CEO Sid Yenamandra as a standalone, wholly owned subsidiary of Smarsh, according to a prepared statement.

The Entreda acquisition enables Smarsh to offer enterprise cybersecurity risk and compliance capabilities to broker-dealers, registered investment advisors (RIAs) and banks, the companies said.

A Closer Look at Entreda

Entreda automates cybersecurity compliance on end-user devices, networks and applications, the company stated. It offers a monitoring application that runs on PC, Mac and mobile devices and performs real-time auto-remediation to address compliance issues.

In addition, Entreda provides the following cybersecurity risk remediation applications:

  • Antivirus/Anti-Malware: Identifies viruses, malware and other cyber threats
  • Auto VPN: Allows users to securely browse the internet, regardless of location
  • Data Leakage Monitoring: Tracks data leakage in a cloud environment or on a USB drive
  • Device Encryption: Manages whole disk encryption on any device
  • Password Policy: Enforces an organization's password policies on any device
  • Remote Desktop: Offers secure remote access to any desktop

Entreda also provides a cybersecurity risk score and compliance analytics, regulatory reports, event logs and security alerts and notifications.

What Is Smarsh?

Smarsh helps financial services organizations manage risk, the company indicated. It offers a variety of financial services solutions, including:

  • Smarsh Connected Archive: Provides a cloud archive solution
  • Smarsh Discovery: Allows organizations to collect, preserve, review and export electronic communications
  • Smarsh Supervision: Helps organizations identify compliance issues

Smarsh manages over 3 billion messages daily, the company noted. It also supports more than 6,500 customers.
