MSSP Atos Seeks to Acquire French IoT Cybersecurity Company

Atos, a Top 200 MSSP and digital transformation company, has begun negotiations to acquire French cybersecurity company digital.security, according to a prepared statement. Negotiations are ongoing, but the acquisition is expected to be finalized by the end of 2020.

Digital.security employs 250 cybersecurity consultants who also have Internet of Things (IoT) expertise, the companies indicated. The deal could help Atos to further strengthen its cybersecurity market position in France and Europe.

What Is digital.security?

Digital.security, founded in 2015, is a subsidiary of European digital services provider Econocom. The business offers a variety of digital security services, including:

  • Compliance and security certifications;
  • Implementation and project services;
  • Operational services; and
  • Product distribution.

In addition, digital.security created the first European Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), Atos stated. digital.security also operates in three countries and supports customers primarily in the finance and insurance industries.

Atos Adds to Its Cybersecurity Portfolio

Atos has been busy on the M&A front. The company in June 2020 acquired Paladion, a Top 200 MSSP and Top 20 managed detection and response (MDR) provider. Furthermore, Atos in 2019 purchased IDnomic, a European digital identity infrastructure management provider.

The Atos cyber portfolio now spans multiple services -- including advanced detection and response, data protection and governance, digital workplace security and other cybersecurity solutions. Atos employs over 5,000 security specialists and has a worldwide network of security operations centers (SOCs).

Also, M&A deals involving MSSP and cybersecurity companies has been steady. There have been at least 36 M&A deals involving cybersecurity companies in 2020 as of late July.
