Avast has acquired Canadian digital identity and authentication solutions provider SecureKey Technologies for an undisclosed sum. The deal is expected to close in April 2022, with general availability of SecureKey's products under the Avast umbrella by June 2022, the buyer indicated.

This is technology M&A deal number 298 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2022.

Meanwhile, Avast also is looking to finalize a pending merger with NortonLifeLock sometime in April 2022.

A Closer Look at SecureKey

SecureKey simplifies consumer access to online services and applications, according to the company. It delivers the Verified.Me and Government Sign-In by Verified.Me privacy-enhancing services that allow consumers to securely share identity information.

Verified.Me offers a distributed digital identity verification network that consumers can use to securely access services and products, SecureKey noted. Meanwhile, Government Sign-In by Verified.Me lets users log in to hundreds of government online services and applications.

SecureKey's digital identity solutions are used for over 200 million secure digital ID transactions per year globally, the company stated. Furthermore, SecureKey offers a technology partner program.

Avast offers digital security and privacy services to over 435 million users globally. The company has had various MSP-focused partner programs from time to time, but some of those efforts ended when the company sold its Managed Workplace software business to Barracuda Networks in 2019.
