Barracuda Networks has acquired bot mitigation company InfiSecure Technologies for an undisclosed sum. The company plans to integrate InfiSecure bot detection and mitigation capabilities into its Advanced Bot Protection service.
Advanced Bot Protection uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to help organizations combat cyber threats, according to Barracuda. It features the following components:
- Bot Spam Detection: Reduces referrer spam and blocks comment spam.
- Credential Stuffing Prevention: Blocks credential stuffing, bot attacks in which cybercriminals steal passwords and try to use them to access other sites or applications, and helps stop account takeover attacks.
- Request Risk Scoring: Monitors incoming requests and uses advanced behavioral analytics to detect attacks or suspicious activity.
- Client Finger Printing: Leverages collected information to identify potential bots and web scraping attacks.
Advanced Bot Protection is now available as part of Barracuda's Web Application Firewall (WAF) and WAF-as-a-Service solution.
Barracuda Records International MSP Partner Growth
Barracuda's InfiSecure acquisition comes after the company recorded 280 percent international MSP partner growth over the past two years and 120 percent year-over-year growth in annualized recurring revenue for MSP solutions. It also could help Barracuda capitalize on the rising demand for bot detection solutions.
Global bot detection market revenues are projected to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 42.4 percent between 2018 and 2023, according to industry analyst MarketsandMarkets. In addition, these revenues could total nearly $1.2 billion by 2023.
