GoSecure has acquired EdgeWave to blend managed detection and response (MDR), email inbox security and other managed security services. Financial terms were not disclosed.
EdgeWave's email security platform offers pre- and post-delivery detection and automated incident response to mitigate phishing, ransomware and other cybersecurity threats, the company says. EdgeWave has more than 2,000 customers and over 100 channel partners, the company says.
GoSecure, meanwhile, specializes in MDR and also offers cybersecurity threat assessments, security audits and penetration testing, and managed security services, powered by the CounterTack platform.

Executive Perspectives: GoSecure Acquires EdgeWave
In a prepared statement, GoSecure CEO Neal Creighton said:
“The acquisition of EdgeWave is strategic to GoSecure on many fronts. Managed Detection and Response is one of the hottest market opportunities in cybersecurity and EdgeWave will add thousands of customers, experienced cybersecurity professionals and inbox detection and response capabilities that will extend our CounterTack technology platform and expand GoSecure’s scale while accelerating growth.”
Added Steve Kelley, CEO of EdgeWave:
“EdgeWave was a first mover in Managed Inbox Detection and Response and we are pleased to join forces with GoSecure to become a disruptive force in the emerging managed detection and response market. The powerful combination of our technology, cybersecurity talent and longstanding customer base will help solidify GoSecure’s position as a leader among elite managed detection and response providers in the cybersecurity industry.
Managed Detection and Response (MDR): Mergers, Acquisitions and Evolutions
GoSecure is a familiar name in the M&A (merger and acquisition) market. Predictive endpoint security provider CounterTack acquired GoSecure in June 2018, and the company rebranded itself as "GoSecure powered by CounterTack" in February 2019.
Meanwhile, many of the Top 20 MDR providers now compete head-on against more traditional MSSPs that have moved into the MDR sector -- further blurring the line between MSSP and MDR providers.
