LogPoint, a security information and event management (SIEM) platform provider for MSSPs and security operations centers (SOCs), has acquired automated cyber threat detection and response company SecBI for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition is expected to be finalized in the third quarter of 2021, the buyer says.

With the acquisition, LogPoint will integrate SecBI's security orchestration, automation and response (SOAR) and extended detection and response (XDR) capabilities into its SIEM platform, the buyer said. The goal: LogPoint's MSSP partners and customers will be able to automate tasks, orchestrate threat remediation workflows and investigate, prioritize and execute incident response playbooks, the company says.
A Closer Look at SecBI
SecBI, based in Israel, had been venture-backed. The company raised $5 million in Series A funding back in 2016. That round was led by Orange Digital Ventures, Connecticut Innovations, Amichai Shulman and existing investor Jerusalem Venture Partners (JVP). MSSP Alert does not know if SecBI raised additional money since the Series A round.
SecBI offers Universal XDR, a platform that combines cloud, endpoint and network security tools for threat detection and response.
Universal XDR uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to synthesize data sources and evaluate an organization's threat detection and remediation decisions, SecBI noted. In doing so, the platform empowers an organization to automate security alert correlation and prioritization and guard against current and emerging threats.
In addition, SecBI offers the XDR Technology Partnership Program. This program enables MSSPs and other partners to integrate Universal XDR into their endpoint detection and response (EDR), mail gateway and web gateway offerings, SecBI indicated.
What Does the SecBI Acquisition Mean for LogPoint?
SecBI allows LogPoint to provide its customers with SOAR and XDR capabilities as part of its SIEM platform, LogPoint CEO Jesper Zerlang stated. As such, LogPoint's customers can use these capabilities to eliminate false-positive alerts and automate incident response.
Also, SecBI extends LogPoint's MSSP market reach. LogPoint has more than 50 certified partners that leverage its SIEM platform and previously partnered with several large MSSPs.
