Apax Partners, a private equity firm, has acquired Coalfire, a cybersecurity advisory and assessment services company.
Coalfire earlier this year integrated continuous monitoring capabilities from Qualys, an IT and web application auditing, compliance and protection solutions provider, into its Secure Cloud Automation Services (SCAS). In doing so, Coalfire provides Qualys continuous monitoring capabilities to its SCAS customers.
The Qualys integration enables SCAS customers to leverage Qualys vulnerability management and continuous monitoring to analyze their IT environments and security posture and comply with data security mandates, the companies said. It also ensures that SCAS customers can work with Qualys to validate IT systems inventory and maintenance.
What Is Coalfire?
Coalfire provides cyber risk management, advisory, technology and compliance services, including:
- Coalfire Labs: Analyzes cyber risks across IT environments.
- CoalfireOne: Helps organizations simplify compliance, manage risk and upgrade their security posture.
- Compliance: Enables organizations to keep pace with industry data security requirements.
- Cyber Engineering: Detects and addresses cyber threats.
Coalfire supports organizations across financial services, hospitality and other industries. It also has conducted more than 1,500 penetration tests and 2,000 security assessments over the past two years.
The acquisition news comes after two Coalfire employees were arrested in October — despite the fact that they were doing their job by testing the physical and cybersecurity infrastructure of Colorado state and local buildings based on a contract.
