Wipro Acquires Cyber Risk, Regulatory Compliance Solutions Company Edgile

Global IT consulting company Wipro, which has a Top 250 MSSP business unit, is acquiring cyber risk and regulatory compliance solutions provider Edgile. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This is technology M&A deal number 789 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2021.

The Edgile transaction is expected to be completed before March 31, 2022, Wipro said. Sellers that are exiting Edgile include private equity firm Abry Partners -- which is a very active investor in the MSP market.

What Does the Edgile Acquisition Mean for Wipro?

Together, Wipro and Edgile will develop the Wipro CyberTransform integrated suite, according to the companies.

Organizations will be able to use Wipro CyberTransform to accelerate their digital transformation efforts and operate virtual digital supply chains, Wipro noted. Also, Wipro CyberTransform will help organizations enhance boardroom governance of cyber risk and bolster their cybersecurity strategies.

Edgile provides cybersecurity transformation and risk services to global organizations. The company's services include:

  • Identity and access management (IAM)
  • Information and cloud security
  • Risk and security
  • Security strategy

Edgile is a vendor-independent security and risk consulting firm. It has established cybersecurity partnerships with Microsoft, SailPoint, ServiceNow and several other technology providers.

Wipro Cybersecurity and IT Consulting Acquisitions

Wipro has been an active buyer across the MSP, MSSP, IT consulting and cloud consulting markets.

For instance, Wipro in March 2021 acquired Ampion, an Australia-based provider of cybersecurity, DevOps and engineering services. Ampion strengthened Wipro's ability to deliver cybersecurity services to organizations in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), according to a prepared statement.

Additional Wipro acquisitions of recent note include:

Wipro delivers cloud and infrastructure security, digital trust and other cybersecurity services. It provides these services to organizations across six continents.

Meanwhile, Wipro has a partner ecosystem and fosters strategic partnerships as one of the "core pillars" of its business strategy, the company indicated. Wipro looks poised to continue to explore new partnerships in the foreseeable future.
