DirectDefense Inc., a risk assessment, penetration testing and managed services provider, will now offer Halcyon’s Anti-Ransomware & Endpoint Resilience Platform as part of its managed detection and response (MDR) solutions, the companies announced in a prepared statement.
DirectDefense President Inc. Jim Broome explained the synergy behind the partnership:
“Ransomware is on the rise and threat actor groups are becoming increasingly sophisticated. As they evolve, so must your managed security services provider. The combination of Halcyon’s AI-powered, anti-ransomware engine and our 24/7 MDR security services gives organizations peace of mind that they are receiving fast, effective and cutting-edge detection and response capabilities managed by our team of cybersecurity experts.”
Chris Vincent, Halcyon senior vice president, added:
“We’re excited to partner with DirectDefense and bring the concept of endpoint resilience and anti-ransomware to the broader market. As ransomware continues to outsmart traditional security tools, the need for purpose-driven products backed by experts like DirectDefense is critical.”
Laser Focus on Thwarting Ransomware Attacks
Halcyon notes that its anti-ransomware platform strengthens DirectDefense’s MDR by stopping cyberattacks at all phases of a breach by using a proprietary engine that specifically targets ransomware. This pre-execution engine can prevent ransomware from executing without being connected to the internet and is enhanced once connected to its more powerful cloud engine, the company said.
In addition, the platform exploits weaknesses commonly found in ransomware to force it to shut down or reveal itself before damage can be done. The platform captures encryption keys generated by ransomware events, blunting the effects of the malicious software.
More About DirectDefense, Halcyon
DirectDefense’s Cyber Security Partner Program allows MSSPs and MSPs to use its MDR, connected systems and professional services expertise. In July 2022, DirectDefense named Richard Tillery as its MSSP director, MSSP Alert reported.
Tillery manages DirectDefense’s security analysts and the company’s detection infrastructure and response to cybersecurity incidents.
Also in July, Halcyon launched a technology partner program for MSSPs, MSPs and other North American technology providers. The program lets Halcyon partners use its security platform to help their customers identify and address ransomware attacks.
