Axiad Offers Passwordless Authentication for Air Gapped and Critical Environments

Axiad has announced the Passwordless for Air Gapped and Critical Environments package to meet the phishing-resistant requirements of The White House Executive Order (EO) 14028.

Government agencies and critical infrastructure and defense industrial base (DIB) organizations can use this package across Active Directory Federation Services, Certificate Authority and other Microsoft services to "ensure authentication is highly secure and consistent and customers get maximum value out of their existing environments," Axiad said.

How Axiad's Passwordless for Air Gapped and Critical Environments Package Works

The package brings passwordless authentication and end-user self-service capabilities to air gapped and critical infrastructure environments that integrate Microsoft Security solutions, Axiad stated.

Key features of the package:

  • Government-grade FIPS 140 validated passwordless authentication gives organizations the flexibility to accommodate the needs of employees, contractors, vendors and suppliers.
  • Self-service capabilities via Axiad AirLock eliminates temporary passwords and provides self-service credential enrollment and Axiad MyCircle self-service account recovery.
  • Single portal allows organizations to manage the lifecycle of their authentication methods and make updates as needed.

In addition, the package's architecture is made to operate in air gapped environments and interoperate with organizations' existing authentication and infrastructure tools without requiring upgrades, Axiad noted.

This package also leverages and extends the life of Microsoft authentication and infrastructure services, Axiad said.

Axiad, Ping Identity Announce Partnership

The Passwordless for Air Gapped and Critical Environments package launch comes after Axiad in May 2023 unveiled a Ping Identity integration.

Axiad has integrated its Certificate-Based Authentication (CBA) for identity and access management (IAM) solution with Ping Identity's PingFederate user authentication and single sign-on solution, the companies said. The integration lets organizations provision and manage phishing-resistant authenticators and credentials for their users.

Also, organizations can supplement PingFederate with workstation login capabilities from Axiad Cloud, Axiad stated. This allows organizations to deploy certificate-based authentication for Ping Identity users to secure workstation logins across the operations.

Organizations use Axiad's products and solutions to secure their users, machines and interactions, the company indicated. Furthermore, Axiad provides a partner program for MSSPs, MSPs and other technology providers.
