Blackpoint Cyber has launched Identity Response for Azure AD, a feature that provides organizations with "first of its kind cloud managed detection and response (MDR) for single sign-on (SSO)," according to the company.
Identity Response is now available via Blackpoint's Cloud Response solution within the Blackpoint Response product bundle.
What Blackpoint Cyber's Identity Response for Azure AD Feature Offers
Identity Response for Azure AD "amplifies the security of Microsoft environments and extends protection to third-party applications interconnected via Azure SSO authentication," Blackpoint said.
Blackpoint partners can use the feature to analyze attack surfaces and vulnerabilities, the company noted. They can also learn about potential data exposures and address them faster than ever before.
Meanwhile, the feature enables Blackpoint's security operations center (SOC) to identify unauthorized access, determine if a login originated from Microsoft or an associated third-party service and address suspicious logins through Azure SSO, the company indicated. In addition, Blackpoint's SOC can protect against attacks that otherwise trick users into launching malicious applications and give cybercriminals access to their organizations' Microsoft assets.
A Real World Example of How Organizations Can Use Identity Response for Azure AD
In the September 2023 MGM cyberattack, an alleged compromise of a user's SSO account allowed cybercriminals to access critical infrastructure, resulting in a reported revenue loss of around $2 billion, according to Blackpoint chief technology officer Xavier Salinas.
By applying protection to SSO, MGM and other organizations can identify and respond to threat actors' attack chains, Salinas said. That way, these organizations can monitor their attack surfaces and protect against current and emerging threats before they lead to costly and time-intensive data breaches.
Blackpoint Cyber Continues to Grow
The Identity Response for Azure AD launch comes after Blackpoint in October 2023 added its MDR technology to the Pax8 Marketplace. MSPs will be able to access Blackpoint's cloud products on this marketplace starting in November 2023.
Previously, Blackpoint received a $190 million growth investment from Bain Capital Tech Opportunities and Accel in June 2023. Blackpoint is using this investment to enhance its security technology, bolster its product portfolio and simplify the security stack for its MSP partners, the company said.
Blackpoint delivers MDR technology that combines network visualization, tradecraft detection and endpoint security capabilities. MSSPs, MSPs and other technology providers can join Blackpoint's partner program to incorporate the company's MDR capabilities into their portfolios.
