Intel 471, a cyber threat intelligence company that supports enterprises, government agencies and other organizations, has acquired open-source intelligence and attack surface management provider SpiderFoot for an undisclosed sum.
This is technology M&A deal number 935 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2022.
Intel 471, founded in 2014, is based in Wilmington, Delaware. The company has 146 employees listed on LinkedIn. Intel 471's areas of expertise include cyber threat intelligence and computer and information security.
SpiderFoot, founded in 2005, is based in Tallinn, Estonia. The company has one employee listed on LinkedIn. SpiderFoot's areas of expertise include cyber threat intelligence, asset discovery, attack surface monitoring and security assessments.
Intel 471 Expands Cyber Threat Intelligence Portfolio
SpiderFoot allows Intel 471 to "deliver unmatched cybersecurity insights to its global clients," the company stated. Intel 471 will invest in SpiderFoot's existing tools and plans to integrate the company's capabilities into its Titan cybercrime intelligence platform.
In addition, SpiderFoot founder Steve Micallef will join Intel 471 as its vice president of attack surface technology. Micallef said he will help Intel 471's mission to "provide the most comprehensive and secure threat intelligence experience available on the market."
Intel 471 Partners with AZ Asia-Pacific, CyCognito
The SpiderFoot acquisition comes after Intel 471 in June 2022 announced a partnership with AZ Asia-Pacific, an Asian cybersecurity distributor. This partnership helps Intel 471 provide cyber threat intelligence solutions and services to organizations in Asia, the company indicated.
Previously, Intel 471 in December 2021 partnered with CyCognito, an external attack surface management and attack surface protection solutions provider. CyCognito licenses the threat intelligence collected by Intel 471 so it can help customers identify, contain and analyze threats, the companies noted.
Intel 471 provides organizations with near-real-time insights into malicious actors and other cyber threats. It offers a channel partner program that allows MSSPs, MSPs and VARs to integrate its cyber threat intelligence solutions and services into their portfolios.
