Accenture has purchased Morphus, an MSSP and cyber defense, risk management and threat intelligence services provider, for an undisclosed sum.
This is technology M&A deal number 44 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2023.
Accenture, founded in 1989, is based in Dublin, Ireland. The company has 547,876 employees listed on LinkedIn. Accenture's areas of expertise include application services, cloud computing and data and analytics.
Morphus, founded in 2003, is based in Fortaleza, Brazil. The company has 233 employees listed on LinkedIn. Morphus' areas of expertise include managed security, penetration testing and information security.
Accenture Builds Cybersecurity Market Reach
Morphus extends Accenture's cybersecurity portfolio across the following sectors:
- Communications media and technology
- Financial services
- Energy
- Retail
- Aviation
Morphus has been integrated into Accenture's Latin America cybersecurity operations, the companies said. It will support Accenture as it launches a cyber industry practice in Latin America led by Morphus' CISOs.
In addition, Accenture will utilize the Morphus Labs research facility in Fortaleza, the companies indicated. This facility will focus on managed security services, cybersecurity studies and vulnerability and threat analysis.
Accenture will add a Cyber Fusion Center in Fortaleza to its global network, the business stated. This center will perform cybersecurity research and development.
Accenture Continues Cybersecurity Acquisitions
Dating back to 2015, Accenture Security, a Top 250 MSSP, has completed 16 acquisitions. These included Latin America-based MSSP Real Protect and European cybersecurity companies Sentor and Openminded in 2021.
Previously, Accenture announced plans to spend $4 billion on acquisitions during the 2022 fiscal year. The company spent $1.8 billion of this budget during the first half of the fiscal year.
Accenture offers cyber defense, security operations and other managed security services to global organizations through Accenture Security. It also maintains an ecosystem of technology partners.
