Ernst & Young (EY), a Top 200 MSSP for 2019, has acquired the cybersecurity practice of Sila Solutions Group, a North American technology and management consulting firm. The acquisition will help EY deliver identity governance and administration (IGA), privileged access management (PAM), cyber risk assessment, privacy and data protection and third-party risk management to global organizations, the companies said.
Sila's cybersecurity team will join EY's cybersecurity practice, according to the companies. In addition, EY has acquired Sila's cyber delivery methodologies, training curriculum and other cybersecurity assets as part of the transaction.
What Does the Acquisition Mean for EY?
EY's cybersecurity practice offers cyber risk management, Internet of Things (IoT) security, data protection and other cybersecurity services. Meanwhile, the Sila cybersecurity practice acquisition enables EY to expand its cybersecurity services portfolio.
Furthermore, Sila's cybersecurity team could help EY deliver new cybersecurity solutions, the companies stated. This team has industry expertise and technical, analytical and project management skills, and as such, could help EY provide cybersecurity solutions that enable organizations to address both technical and business requirements.
EY Acquiring Cybersecurity Expertise
The Sila cybersecurity practice acquisition comes after EY in September 2019 purchased ElevatedPrompt Solutions Inc., a Canadian cybersecurity solutions provider.
With ElevatedPrompt, EY provides managed detection and response (MDR) solutions to Canadian organizations. ElevatedPrompt also enables EY to deliver enterprise event management, incident response, security monitoring and threat detection, threat intelligence and vulnerability management support to these organizations.
EY provides cybersecurity response, digital identity and access management (IAM) and other managed security services. These services typically feature an "as-a-service" component, EY indicated, and can help organizations overcome a shortage of cybersecurity talent globally.
