Expel, a Top 250 MSSP and Top 40 managed detection and response (MDR) security company, has released an MDR service.
Expel's new MDR offering allows organizations to "secure their business across their Kubernetes environment and adopt new technologies at scale without being hindered by security concerns," the company said in a prepared statement.
Expel MDR Examined
The MDR service delivers insights across the following security layers:
- Configuration identifies cluster misconfigurations and references the Center for Information Security (CIS) Kubernetes benchmark for best practices to recommend configuration improvements.
- Control Plane integrates with the Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) infrastructure to analyze Kubernetes audit logs, apply detection logic to notify organizations about malicious or unusual activity and provide remediation recommendations.
- Run-Time Security integrates with run-time container security vendors to help organizations get the most value out of the security technologies that they already use.
Also, the MDR service aligns to the MITRE ATT&CK framework and learns and adapts based on activity in an IT environment, Expel indicated. As such, the service helps organizations keep pace with cyber threats and monitor their Kubernetes security posture.
Expel Adds to Executive Leadership Team, Partners with Beyon Cyber
The MDR service for Kubernetes announcement comes after Expel in January 2022 appointed Jennifer Lawrence as its chief revenue officer and Kelly Fiedler as its chief marketing officer.
Lawrence oversees Expel's sales execution and go-to-market strategy, Expel noted. Prior to joining Expel, Lawrence held cybersecurity sales leadership roles at Duo Security and Cisco Secure.
Meanwhile, Fiedler leads Expel's marketing team and is helping the business look for ways to grow, the company indicated. Fiedler brings more than 25 years of technology marketing experience to Expel and most recently served as CMO at RSA.
Previously, Expel in December 2022 signed an exclusive MDR partnership with Beyon Cyber. With the partnership, Beyon provides Expel's MDR services in the United Arab Emirates and its surrounding region, the companies stated.
Expel provides MDR, phishing and threat hunting services and a security operations platform to global organizations. It also offers a partner program and established partnerships with over 20 technology companies.
