Fortinet has acquired ZoneFox, a Scottish threat detection and response solutions provider, for an undisclosed sum. The company will integrate ZoneFox's cloud-based insider threat detection and response technology into its security information and event management (SIEM) and endpoint security offerings, according to a prepared statement.
The ZoneFox acquisition provides Fortinet customers with the following security capabilities:
- Visibility into endpoints and associated data flow and user behavior.
- Machine learning capabilities to distill billions of security events per day.
- Cloud-based architecture that captures data around user, device, resource, process and behavior.
- Forensics timeline recording of information and a search interface that helps security analysts determine how to improve an organization's security posture.
- Zero-configuration agent, along with the ability to scale up to support over 10,000 agents.
- Out-of-the-box support for the European Union (EU) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other data security mandates.
Furthermore, Fortinet customers can leverage ZoneFox technology to detect anomalous behavior across on-premises and cloud environments, the company said. They also can use ZoneFox technology to speed up insider threat identification and response.
Fortinet Introduces Network Access Control Product for IoT Security
In addition to the ZoneFox acquisition, Fortinet in September unveiled the FortiNAC network access control product for Internet of Things (IoT) security.
FortiNAC provides visibility into an organization's network endpoints, end users and trusted and untrusted devices and applications, according to Fortinet. It also allows an organization to establish security controls across its network devices and ensure only authorized users can access various applications, infrastructure and assets.
