HelpSystems, a managed IT services provider (MSP), has acquired data loss prevention (DLP) solutions provider Clearswift for an undisclosed sum. HelpSystems will integrate Clearswift's deep content inspection technology into its cybersecurity services portfolio, according to the company.

Clearswift provides adaptive data loss prevention technology designed to help businesses reduce the risk of IT interruptions, HelpSystems indicated. It delivers content threat protection to more than 1,700 organizations in over 70 countries.

What Does the Clearswift Acquisition Mean for HelpSystems?

Clearswift expands HelpSystems' cybersecurity portfolio, which includes threat detection, protection and management services. In addition, Clearswift could help HelpSystems capitalize on a global DLP market that is projected to grow.

Global DLP market revenues are expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate of nearly 24 percent between 2018 and 2022, according to industry analyst Technavio. Also, rising demand for secure cloud-based data storage is one of the factors that could accelerate this market's growth.

HelpSystems Introduces Free SIEM Software for SMBs

The Clearswift acquisition comes after HelpSystems in September released a free version of its Event Manager security information and event management (SIEM) software for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

Event Manager helps IT and security teams protect an organization's devices against cyberattacks, HelpSystems stated. It also prioritizes security risks in real time and automatically escalates security incidents.
