1. National Security Cybersecurity Conference: CrowdStrike will partner with The Washington Post Live to present Securing Cyberspace: The global cyberthreat landscape in 2024 on June 6, featuring conversations with Ambassador Nathaniel C. Fick, General (Ret.) Paul M. Nakasone, Kemba Walden and CrowdStrike’s head of privacy and public policy Drew Bagley. Topics will include the major cybersecurity threats to U.S. national security, safeguarding America’s critical infrastructure ahead of the 2024 elections and a discussion on ecosystem-level cybersecurity issues, such as concentration risk, coupled with recommended policy next steps to address these systemic problems.
2. Cyberattacks on SMBs on the Rise: As small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) face a rapidly evolving threat landscape, "The State of SMB Cybersecurity in 2024" report, commissioned by ConnectWise, an MSP-focused software company, reveals that 94% of SMBs have experienced at least one cyberattack, a dramatic rise from 64% in 2019. This increase in cyberattacks is exacerbated by the fact that 76% of SMBs lack the in-house skills to properly address security issues, increasing demand for the expertise and services of MSPs.
3. Top 5 Cyber Threats Named: New data from the FBI shows that 2023 was a record year for cybersecurity claims for Americans, with potential losses exceeding $12.5 billion. INE Security, a global cybersecurity training and certification provider, has identified five of the biggest threats impacting all major industries: data breaches, ransomware attacks, insider threats, cloud security vulnerabilities, and AI and machine learning threats.
4. CISA Adds Vulnerability: The Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has added one new vulnerability to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, based on evidence of active exploitation: CVE-2017-3506 Oracle WebLogic Server OS Command Injection Vulnerability. These types of vulnerabilities are frequent attack vectors for malicious cyber actors and pose significant risks to the federal enterprise, CISA said.
5. Microsoft Copilot Readiness Workshop: Ontinue, a provider of AI-powered managed extended detection and response (MXDR) services, announced it now offers Microsoft Copilot for Security Readiness workshops to help organizations understand how they can unlock the power of AI and get the most value from their Microsoft Security investments. In addition, Ontinue has formed strategic partnership with Oxfam, a global non-profit organization that fights inequality to end poverty and injustice. Oxfam chose Ontinue to provide managed security services to strengthen its cybersecurity posture by creating greater efficiencies, continuous protection, faster response times and the ability to maximize Oxfam's current Microsoft Security investments.
6. AI Training for MSPs: Breach Secure Now (BSN) has released an enhancement to its training platform with the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Training. The BSN AI Training will transform how MSPs develop and broaden their service offerings by leveraging the power of AI in the workplace, the company said.
7. AI-Assisted Security Support: Wipro, a technology services and consulting company, is partnering with Zscaler to introduce Wipro Cyber X-Ray, an AI-assisted decision support platform. Wipro Cyber X-Ray empowers enterprise CXOs to make optimized security investment decisions and communicate cyber values to senior leadership and the board. Wipro Cyber X-Ray offers an easy-to-navigate executive dashboard to visualize cyber risk posture, activate cyber initiatives, and deliver value to the organization by helping to understand over- or under-investment in security programs, the company said.
8. Cybersecurity Readiness Guide Released: ArmorText, which safeguards communication for organizations worldwide, and the international law firm of Crowell & Moring LLP, has released an update to their tabletop exercise guide, making new exercise scenarios publicly available under a Creative Commons license. The new Cyber Resilience: Incident Response Tabletop Exercises Q2 2024 addresses urgent challenges facing executives, including disruptive attacks by increasingly sophisticated criminal actors with well-publicized recent examples, as well as increasingly complex regulatory obligations, the company said.
