1. Blue Mantis Announces HighTechnique Acquisition: Blue Mantis, a provider of managed services, cybersecurity and cloud solutions, has acquired HighTechnique, an independent cybersecurity services provider. The acquisition enhances Blue Mantis’ networking and cybersecurity capabilities, particularly in serving public sector clients who require advanced compliance and business protection, the company said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
2. CrowdStrike Releases Threat Hunting Report: CrowdStrike has released its 2024 Threat Hunting Report, highlighting the latest adversary trends, campaigns and tactics based on the frontline intelligence from CrowdStrike’s threat hunters and intelligence analysts. The report reveals a rise in nation-state and eCrime adversaries exploiting legitimate credentials and identities to evade detection and bypass legacy security controls, as well as a rise in hands-on-keyboard intrusions, cross-domain attacks and cloud control plane exploits, CrowdStrike reports.
3. Pluralsight Courses Target Volt Typhoon Defense: Pluralsight, a technology workforce development company, is offering its expert-led course path focused on understanding, detecting and defending against the Volt Typhoon hacker group. Volt Typhoon is a state-sponsored cyber group seeking to pre-position themselves on IT and OT networks to carry out cyberattacks against U.S. critical infrastructure, particularly in communications, energy, transportation and water sectors, the company said.
4. LastPass Makes Executive Hire: LastPass, a password and identity management solutions provider, has appointed Heather Brown as its first-ever chief customer officer. Brown will oversee the company’s customer success, customer support and community teams. Before joining LastPass, she led the commercial sales and customer success teams at PagerDuty and previously held global leadership roles at Accenture and Salesforce.
5. Securonix Offers Free SIEM Upgrade: Securonix is launching a free SIEM upgrade program that empowers cybersecurity teams to seamlessly upgrade from QRadar, ArcSight, LogRhythm and Exabeam to the Securonix Unified Defense SIEM. Securonix is offering free implementation services and free months of SIEM subject to a minimum subscription.
6. Cyware Leadership Hires Announced: Cyware, a specialist in threat intelligence management, security collaboration and orchestrated response, has appointed Sachin Jade as chief product officer and Ashok Kumar as head of U.S. engineering. Prior to joining Cyware, Sachin held roles at Verizon. Kumar previously led engineering and technical operations at AT&T Cybersecurity and has held leadership roles at Trustwave and Verizon Connect.
7. Ark Infotech Acquires Vantyr: Ark Infotech, a cloud and cybersecurity solutions provider serving the commercial and government sectors, has acquired Vantyr, a specialist in securing non-human identities across cloud and SaaS environments. The acquisition follows Ark's December 2023 acquisition of slauth.io, an IAM Policy Copilot product, and positions Ark as a force in the cloud and SaaS security market, the company said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
8. Halliburton Hit by Cyberattack: Oil giant Halliburton said Wednesday it is grappling with a computer system issue reportedly linked to a cyberattack. A person familiar with the matter told Reuters that Halliburton was hit by a cyberattack that appears to be impacting business operations at the company’s Houston campus and some global networks. “We are aware of an issue affecting certain company systems and are working diligently to assess the cause and potential impact,” a Halliburton spokesperson said in a statement. “We have activated our pre-planned response plan and are working internally and with leading experts to remediate the issue.” (Source: CNN)
