1. MSSP Portal for Check Point Partners Debuts: Check Point Software Technologies, a cybersecurity platform provider of AI-powered cloud delivered solutions, has unveiled its new portal designed for both MSSPs and distributors. MSSPs and channel partners face a range of challenges — from efficiently scaling their services, managing multiple customers across disparate security solutions, ensuring compliance with evolving industry regulations, to balancing operational costs with profitability. The Check Point MSSP Portal offers a powerful solution to overcome these hurdles, enhancing security and streamlining operations, the company said.

2. Aura Splits into Two Companies: Aura, an online security specialist, has split the company into two standalone entities: Aura as the all-in-one online safety solution for individuals and families, and Pango Group, a multi-brand cybersecurity company providing solutions to both enterprises and consumers with a focus on comprehensive breach response, scalable security products and integration capabilities.

3. ThreatHunter.ai Introduces ThreatAssessment.ai: ThreatHunter.ai, a specialist in cybersecurity threat detection and mitigation, is launching ThreatAssessment.ai, a free tool designed to give organizations a clear and precise look at their network traffic and firewall security. This tool provides a straightforward proof of concept, enabling businesses to validate their cybersecurity defenses using real data, the company said.

4. CompassMSP Named Partner of the Year: CompassMSP announced that it was named the Barracuda 2024 MSP Partner of the Year during the Barracuda Americas Discover24 partner conference in June. The annual Barracuda Partner Awards honor the top-performing channel partners in each region, recognizing Barracuda partners that surpassed business expectations and demonstrated unwavering dedication to securing their customers' journeys throughout the past year.

5. HackerOne Appoints CEO: HackerOne, a specialist in human-powered security, has appointed Kara Sprague to succeed Marten Mickos as CEO. As executive vice president and chief product officer at F5, she helmed a product business of $1.3 billion annual revenue and was responsible for the company’s portfolio of application security and delivery solutions. Sprague also held leadership roles with McKinsey & Company and engineering roles at Oracle and Hewlett-Packard.

6. Searchlight Cyber Finds Rapid Changes in the Ransomware Landscape: Searchlight Cyber, a dark web intelligence company, has released its latest report, revealing key ransomware trends for the first half of 2024. Ransomware in H1 2024: Trends from the Dark Web showcases how the ransomware scene has shifted since the release of its annual ransomware report 2024 at the start of the year. The report shows how in just six months of the year one of the biggest ransomware groups, BlackCat, ceased operations and a new gang, RansomHub, emerged in February and quickly established itself as the third most prolific ransomware group.

7. NINJIO Launches "Stay AI Aware" Campaign: In recognition of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month during October, NINJIO, a cybersecurity awareness training company, will offer its Stay AI Aware Pack for free. The pack includes four AI-related AWARE episodes and an accompanying tip sheet with key takeaways, an infographic poster with important facts about generative AI and the Gen AI Pyramid, a tactical cut-out learning device with the three biggest points about AI cybersecurity awareness, the company said.

8. Hackers Removed Halliburton Data: U.S. oilfield services firm Halliburton reports that an unauthorized third party had accessed and removed data from its systems, providing details regarding the cyberattack in August. The company said it is evaluating the nature and scope of information that was removed, but added that the incident is not reasonably likely to have a material impact. (Source: Reuters)
