1. Cymulate Unveils AI Copilot: Cymulate, a security and exposure validation specialist, has launched the Cymulate AI Copilot, a generative AI solution designed to deploy, test and tune security controls to evaluate their effectiveness against real-time threats. The solution offers an attack planner for greater insights into cybersecurity control gaps and essential migrations, the company said. The attack planner allows users to copy and paste URLs or content from news articles, threat advisories and security research findings to receive custom threat assessments that can be deployed in minutes.
2. Cequence Offers API Testing for GenAI Apps: Cequence, a specialist in API security and bot management, announced enhancements to its Unified API Protection platform this week at Black Hat in Las Vegas. These enhancements are tailored to support the secure use of AI applications like Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs). Cequence’s upgraded platform features capabilities for proactive threat detection, security testing and threat mitigation, empowering organizations to fortify their API infrastructure, the company said.
3. Trend Micro Partnership Focuses on AI Use: Trend Micro is partnering with GMI Cloud, a venture-backed AI-native GPU cloud provider specializing in the development of a vertically integrated platform optimized for AI and ML workloads. This collaboration aims to enhance security measures for AI implementations and protect sensitive data in high-performance computing environments, the company said. Trend Micro also announced that it has joined the Coalition for Secure AI (COSAI) alongside partners including Google, NVIDIA, Microsoft, IBM and others.
4. KnowBe4 Marks National Social Engineering Day: KnowBe4, a security awareness training and simulated phishing platform provider, has announced the establishment of National Social Engineering Day, to be observed annually on August 6. This new national day aims to educate individuals and organizations about the risks associated with social engineering tactics used in cyberattacks. "The establishment of National Social Engineering Day serves as a crucial reminder that cybersecurity is not just about technology — it's about people," said Stu Sjouwerman, CEO of KnowBe4. "By founding National Social Engineering Day, we're creating an annual reminder for everyone to stay vigilant and informed about the evolving tactics used by cybercriminals."
5. Varonis Drives AI Adoption: Varonis Systems, a data security provider, has brought to market new AI capabilities that enhance its data classification engine. Using novel machine learning techniques, Varonis can automatically discover, understand and classify customers’ unique data better than ever, the company said.
6. Human Security Bolsters ML Engine: HUMAN Security, a cybersecurity company specializing in protecting enterprises by disrupting bot attacks, client-side threats and digital fraud and abuse, has announced enhancements to its decision engine with AI-derived capabilities in detection, mitigation and reporting that uses more than 400 ML algorithms to analyze 20 trillion weekly interactions across 3 billion devices, detecting malicious activity effectively, the company said.
7. ExtraHop Releases Ransomware Report: ExtraHop, a cloud-native network detection and response (NDR) provider, has released its global ransomware trends report. According to the research, security leaders report that they are increasingly being targeted by ransomware actors, averaging nearly eight incidents per year and paying out an average of just under $2.5 million in ransom payments. U.S. organizations experience the highest number of incidents on average and paid out the largest ransoms (nearly $2 million more than the global average). German respondents experienced the fewest incidents.
8. Grip Security, SecurityScorecard Form Partnership: Grip Security, a SaaS identity risk management specialist, and SecurityScorecard, a cybersecurity ratings provider, have announced a strategic partnership involving SaaS security risks. This collaboration offers the industry's first combined risk ratings for both SaaS vendor risk and enterprise identity risks, setting a new standard in cybersecurity, the companies said. To help organizations better understand and mitigate their SaaS security risks, Grip Security is offering a complimentary SaaS Identity Risk Assessment for qualifying SecurityScorecard customers.
9. Contrast Security Launches API Solution: Contrast Security, a runtime security provider, has introduced Application Detection and Response (ADR). Contrast Security ADR empowers security teams to identify vulnerabilities, detect threats and stop attacks that target custom applications and APIs. ADR positions defenses inside the actual application, enabling security from within, the company said.
