1. Exabeam, LogRhythm Merger Completed: Exabeam, a specialist in AI and automation for threat detection, investigation and response, and LogRhythm, a cybersecurity company known for its data ingestion capability, have announced the completion of their merger. The merger combines technological innovation with reliable data to create an AI-driven security operations platform that delivers the most efficient and accurate security information and event management (SIEM) and user and entity behavior analytics (UEBA) solutions in the industry, the companies said.

2. Free Hacker Detection Tool Offered: KnowBe4, a security awareness training and simulated phishing platform provider, has released BreachSim, a free tool designed to help organizations identify and address network security vulnerabilities from the lens of a hacker. BreachSim enables IT security professionals and network administrators to uncover weaknesses in their security infrastructure and demonstrate the critical importance of employee training and detects how data is being exfiltrated and helps uncover network vulnerabilities unique to an organization, the company said.

3. Neovera Acquires Emagined Security: Neovera, a cybersecurity and cloud services provider, has acquired Emagined Security, a provider of professional services for information security and compliance solutions in highly regulated industries. The addition of Emagined Security enables Neovera to extend its current SOC operations and amplifies its existing capabilities in penetration testing, vulnerability assessments and management, threat intelligence, and security operations consulting, the companies aid.

4. Identity Security Release: Okta has unveiled new innovations to help organizations reduce their Identity attack surface, stay ahead of evolving threats and support financial services companies in securing and streamlining sensitive digital experiences. Identity Security Posture Management, a new product for Workforce Identity Cloud now available in North America, helps companies continuously assess their Identity risk posture, uncover critical misconfigurations and gaps and prioritize and remediate the issues based on risk severity, Okta said.

5. Security Collaboration Announced: RELI Group, a specialist in IT solutions for federal government agencies, has formed a strategic partnership with the Cyber Bytes Foundation (CBF). CBF is known for its role as a testing ground for cybersecurity approaches and emerging technologies. CBF’s capabilities include a cyber range, software testing, vulnerability assessments, cyber countermeasures, cyber education and training and supply chain risk management.

6. AI for MDR Product Launch: BlackBerry has unveiled CylanceMDR Pro, a managed detection and response (MDR) service built on an Open XDR platform powered by AI. Designed to tackle evolving cybersecurity challenges, CylanceMDR Pro overcomes the operational burden facing security teams that must defend across expanding attack surfaces with limited resources and talent shortage constraints, BlackBerry said.

7. API Security Release: Invicti, a provider of application security testing solutions, has brought to market Invicti API Security, merging comprehensive API discovery with proactive security testing into a single solution. Invicti API Security includes multiple discovery methods to enable comprehensive identification of known and undocumented APIs, the company said.

8. IBM Wins Cyber Defense Contract: IBM has secured a five-year contract with $26 million in initial funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to support its Cybersecurity Protection and Response (CPR) program to enhance the agency's cybersecurity response support for host governments in the Europe and Eurasia (E&E) region. IBM's multidisciplinary team will provide the assistance needed to help USAID strengthen the ability of host government agencies and critical infrastructure operators to identify, protect, detect, respond to and recover from cyberattacks.

9. Ransomware Alert: The Scattered Spider cybercrime group has incorporated ransomware strains such as RansomHub and Qilin into its arsenal, Microsoft has revealed. Scattered Spider is the designation given to a threat actor that's known for its sophisticated social engineering schemes to breach targets and establish persistence for follow-on exploitation and data theft. It also has a history of targeting VMWare ESXi servers and deploying BlackCat ransomware. (Source: The Hacker News)

10. Auto Parts Supplier Reports Data Breach: Advance Auto Parts, an auto parts retailer with stores throughout the U.S., has been hit by a data breach impacting more than 2.3 million people. The incident is reported to be related to other breaches, such as the recent one at Ticketmaster. Advance Auto Parts has confirmed that cyberattackers managed to access information, including Social Security numbers, driver's licenses and other government ID numbers.
