1. Cyber Acquisition Announced: Exclusive Networks, a global cybersecurity company, is acquiring 100% of the share capital of NEXTGEN Group, a channel services company focused on cybersecurity, data resiliency and digital enterprise in Australia and New Zealand, with presence across APAC. The combination of NEXTGEN and Exclusive Networks will offer value-added channel management services, supported by real-time data analytics and AI-backed insights, benefiting the entire APAC region and providing Exclusive Networks with the ability to roll-out digital channel services at a global scale, the company said. 2. AI Security Enhancement: Malwarebytes, a specialist real-time cyber protection, has added AI functionality to its Security Advisor, available in every ThreatDown Bundle. Using generative AI technology, the new capabilities will transform Security Advisor into an experience that allows customers to use simple natural language requests to search for information about their environment, ask for recommendations on how to optimize their security posture, automatically implement updates and more, the company said.
3. Data Privacy Partnership: Terralogic and LightBeam.ai have formed a strategic collaboration "to reshape industry standards in data protection and privacy and unlock new possibilities." This partnership combines LightBeam.ai privacy protection technology and Terralogic cybersecurity expertise, the companies said. LightBeam.ai specializes in intelligent automation of privacy protections, ensuring constant defense through adaptive machine learning models.
4. Scholarships for Cyber Education: EC-Council, a cybersecurity education and training provider, has renewed its Cyber Security Technician (CCT) Scholarship Program with a $3.5 million allocation for 2024, bringing the total allocation for the program to $7 million. This initiative aims to address the critical shortage of skilled cybersecurity professionals by nurturing a new generation of cyber technicians equipped with comprehensive hands-on skills.
5. Customer Success Program Launches: Trellix, an eXtended detection and response (XDR) specialist, has launched Trellix Thrive, a customer success product that connects support, education and professional services for any Trellix solution. Thrive provides customers with the tools needed to drive efficiencies and build a resilient cybersecurity posture, the company said.
6. Funding Round: Coro, a cybersecurity platform provider for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), has secured $100 million in Series D funding led by One Peak, with participation from existing investors Energy Impact Partners and Balderton Capital. This funding round brings the total funds raised to $255 million in the last 24 months, the company said.
7. Email Data Loss Release: Proofpoint, a cybersecurity and compliance company, has brought to market Adaptive Email Data Loss Prevention (DLP) to automatically detect and prevent accidental and intentional data loss over email. Combining Proofpoint's threat and data loss protection technology and intelligence with Tessian's AI-powered behavioral and detection provides organizations with comprehensive defense against human risks, the company said.
8. CISA Adds Vulnerability: The Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has added a vulnerability to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog: CVE-2023-24955 Microsoft SharePoint Server Code Injection Vulnerability. These types of vulnerabilities are frequent attack vectors for malicious cyber actors and pose significant risks to the federal enterprise, CISA said.
9. Online Scam Alert: Google's new AI-powered Search Generative Experience algorithms recommend scam sites that redirect visitors to unwanted Chrome extensions, fake iPhone giveaways, browser spam subscriptions and tech support scams. Earlier this month, Google began rolling out a new feature called Google Search Generative Experience (SGE) in its search results, which provides AI-generated quick summaries for search queries, including recommendations for other sites to visit related to the query. However, Google's SGE is recommending spammy and malicious sites within its conversational responses, making it easier for users to fall for scams. (Source: Bleeping Computer)
