1. Mimecast Acquires Code42: Mimecast, a global human risk management (HRM) platform provider, has acquired Code42, a specialist in insider threat management and data loss prevention. Code42 provides insider threat management and data loss prevention capabilities native to the cloud, enabling companies to seamlessly protect critical data from exposure, loss, leak and theft, while accelerating incident response times. Mimecast said that the acquisition reinforces its strategy to solve for human risk through a recently unveiled connected HRM platform, and Mimecast Engage human risk awareness and training offering, the result of the integration of Elevate Security technology, acquired in December 2023, the company said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
2. Black Hat Speakers Announced: Ann Johnson, Sherrod DeGrippo, Danny Jenkins, Jen Easterly and Harry Coker, Jr. have been announced as main stage speakers for Black Hat USA 2024 in Las Vegas. The speakers will present on Wednesday, August 7 and Thursday, August 8 as the newest addition to the Black Hat USA 2024 event week programming.
3. JumpCloud's Mobile Device Security Release: JumpCloud, a unified open directory platform provider, has released of Mobile Device Trust. JumpCloud customers can now limit user access to secure corporate-owned devices and users’ own devices. Mobile Device Trust reinforces mobile security by leveraging JumpCloud Go, a phishing-resistant credential. Users can install the JumpCloud Protect app on Apple MDM and Android EMM-enrolled devices and can register their devices with JumpCloud Go and establish device trust, the company said.
4. Funding Round Boosts Evo: Evo Security, a provider of identity and access management solutions for MSPs, has completed its Series A funding round, raising $6 million led by TechOperators, a cybersecurity venture capital firm. The round includes participation from Sorenson Capital, Prelude, Strategic Cyber Ventures, Inner Loop Capital, in addition to new partner MetroSITE Group. The investment will support the Evo's efforts in driving innovation and reinforcing its commitment to providing identity and privileged access solutions for MSPs and their SMB customers, the company said.
5. Integreon Develops Cyber Heat Map: Integreon, a cyber incident response provider, has launched an early adopter program for its latest offering, Integreon i-Scan. This solution scans an organization's data locations to generate a heat map detailing sensitive data and potential risk levels in the event of a cyberattack. i-Scan follows the launch of CyberHawk-AI, a machine learning-based data mining tool that speeds up the manual review process without compromising quality or contextual understanding, the company said.
6. KnowBe4 Hires, Fires Hacker: Cybersecurity company KnowBe4 says a person it recently hired as a principal software engineer turned out to be a North Korean state actor who attempted to install information-stealing on its devices. KnowBe4 detected and stopped the malicious actions in time, so no data breach occurred. The company later determined that the person had submitted a U.S. person's stolen identity to dodge the preliminary checks, and also used AI tools to create a profile picture and match that face during the video conference calls. 7. Cryptsoft, Stormshield Partner for Public Sector Security: Cryptsoft, a specialist in key management technology, is partnering with Stormshield, a company known for its advanced encryption solutions. The partnership aims to integrate Cryptsoft's Key Management Interoperability Protocol (KMIP) Software Development Kit (SDK) into Stormshield's certified security offerings, addressing the multifaceted cybersecurity challenges faced by the public sector, the companies said.
8. SentinelOne Targets Security for Insurers: SentinelOne has brought to market the SentinelOne Risk Assurance Initiative, a new program to help insurers secure their clients’ networks through its advanced AI security platform. With the SentinelOne Risk Assurance Initiative, insurers can offer the SentinelOne Singularity Platform to clients at preferred rates to stop attacks before they happen and reduce financial loss and insurance premiums, the company said.
9. Onyxia Cyber Issues CISO Report: Onyxia Cyber, a provider of AI-driven cybersecurity management solutions, has released its "Regulations, Reporting and Risk Management: The Voice of the CISO 2024" report. The report provides a deep dive into the mindset of today's CISO and how compliance risk, AI opportunities and business decision-making are impacting the position. Fifty-six percent of the surveyed CISOs admit discomfort with their current incident response strategies, indicating a significant need for improvement in handling cyber incidents effectively.
