XDR provider Arctic Wolf has acquired Blackberry’s Cylance endpoint security assets.
The deal calls for a $160 million payment in cash and 5.5 million shares of Arctic Wolf common stock. (Arctic Wolf is privately held.) Following the announcement of the deal yesterday, BlackBerry stock gained 15%.
Cybersecurity companies are consolidating through M&A to create more comprehensive platforms. However, plenty of new companies enter the market every year and the cybersecurity market remains fragmented.

1. More M&A - SailPoint will acquire the identity governance and administration (IGA) business from digital identity company Imprivata effective December 13.In addition, the companies have entered a strategic go-to-market partnership in healthcare.
2. Partnering with AWS - HackerOne’s platform is now available in the AWS Marketplace. It includes the company’s bug bounty, vulnerability disclosure programs, pen-testing as a service, AI red teaming, and code security audits for continuous defense.
3. Malware campaign - Malware campaigns are using fake CAPTCHA pages that mimic trusted services like Google and CloudFlare, according to new research from Reliaquest. From October to early December 2024, ReliaQuest customers observed nearly twice as many fake CAPTCHA websites compared to September. More information is in a blog post here.
4. SASE market size - The global SASE market hit $2.4B in 3Q 2024, with Zscaler, Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Broadcom, Fortinet, and Netskope collectively capturing 72% market share, according to Dell'Oro Group's SASE & SD-WAN report. This marks a 7-point year-over-year gain, the market analyst firm said, in spite of economic uncertainty in the market.
5. Distribution partnership - Coro has forged a new strategic partnership with Climb Channel Solutions, a specialty technology distributor. The company said the new partnership will enable a wider reach for its data security and compliance technology
6. GenAI security preferences - A new survey from Crowdstrike found that 80% of security leaders prefer platform-based GenAI tools over point products and applications. Crowdstrike said this highlights the demand for integrated technologies that enhance efficiency and effectiveness across security operations.
