Artificial intelligence has a role to play in cybersecurity, but new Cofense research highlights its weakness when it comes to securing email.

Cofense Intelligence research found that, despite the integration of AI capabilities in modern secure email gateways (SEGs), many phishing emails still manage to reach users' inboxes, with Cofense reporting a 105% increase in malicious emails bypassing secure email gateways. Yikes!

This is because AI and machine learning (AI/ML) models are trained on historical data, Cofense Intelligence said, which may not effectively address emerging threats and zero-days. Additionally, the research found, cybercriminals are highly adaptable and often devise new techniques to bypass SEG security, using AI offensively to enhance their attack strategies.

Now, here's today's MSSP update. Drop me a line at [email protected] if you have news to share or want to say hi!
