MSSP Market Update: CRA Honors Women in IT Security

CyberRisk Alliance (CRA) (the parent of the MSSP Alert Brand) and SC Media have announced the honorees for the 2024 Women in IT Security Recognition Program. Now in its 11th year, this program celebrates women who have made outstanding contributions to cybersecurity across North America. Honorees are recognized across the following four categories:

  • Cybersecurity Veterans – These honorees have consistently dielivered innovation and leadership throughout their careers.
  • Power Players – Rising through the ranks, these women have influenced policies and market standards.
  • Advocates - These leaders have worked to expand cybersecurity awareness, inclusivity and diversity.
  • Women to Watch – These trailblazers are driving new ideas and technologies to reshape the cybersecurity landscape.

Today’s MSSP Update

1. New C-suite exec - Network detection and response provider Corelight has appointed Kevin Williams as chief revenue officer (CRO), where he will oversee global sales, channel partnerships, and enablement initiatives. He most recently led the Americas cybersecurity business at Thales.

2. Threat hunting and attack surface management integration - Censys, which provides a threat hunting and attack surface management internet intelligence platform is offering a new integration with ServiceNow. The ServiceNow Configuration Management Database is now part of Censys’ Integrations Marketplace, where security teams can deploy any integration in less than 15 minutes, the company said. 

3. Influence operations in the U.S. election - Cyber threat intelligence and analysis provider SecAlliance’s new report titled Changing Ballots and Minds: Russian Influence Operations and the 2024 US Presidential Election delves into the evolving strategies employed by Russian actors to shape electoral outcomes and manipulate public opinion in the lead-up to the recent U.S. election. The report takes a look at Russia’s Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) groups, detailing their role in orchestrating influence operations. These groups include APT28 (Fancy Bear) and APT29 (Cozy Bear).

4. Government grant for cyber protection - Veracity Trust Network has been awarded the Cybersecurity Co-Innovation and Development Fund (CCDF) CyberCall grant of $1 million Singapore dollars by the Cyber Security Agency Singapore (CSA). The grant will be used to develop and deliver advanced malicious bot detection in collaboration with one of world’s largest fashion retailers. Veracity was selected based on its ‘Beyond the Edge’ technology that utilizes real-time behavioral analysis to detect and block complex bots.

5. MSSP 250 customer win - ARMO a cloud runtime security provider, has struck a deal with MSSP 250 company Orange Business. The company will use ARMO’s platform to secure its Managed Kubernetes Service (MKS) infrastructure, the companies said.

6. Securing APIs - Cequence Security, API security and bot management provider, is launching API Security Assessment Services, designed to provide immediate, actionable insights into API security risks.

7. Cyber resilience company gets new board member -  Immersive Labs, which focuses on people-centric cyber resilience, has appointed Oliver Newbury to its board of directors. Newbury currently serves as a senior advisor for global alternative asset firm TPG. Prior to this role, he served as Barclays Global chief information security officer (CISO).
