MSSP Market Update: Magna5 Acquires ThreatAdvice

IT services and cybersecurity service provider Magna5, backed by NewSpring Holdings, has acquired ThreatAdvice, an MSSP and a provider of breach prevention, managed services, fraud detection and prevention, as well as other cybersecurity services.

Magna5’s acquisition of ThreatAdvice aligns with the company’s dual growth strategy of expanding geographically and enhancing the breadth of its managed security capabilities, the company said in a statement. With established operations in Birmingham and Mobile, Alabama, as well as Atlanta, Georgia, ThreatAdvice adds a strong presence in those geographies for Magna5. 

Magna5 is based in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania and has 246 employees, according to LinkedIn. ThreatAdvice is based in Birmingham, Alabama and has 53 employees, according to LinkedIn.

1. Holiday insecurities - Exposure management platform CyCognito’s recent report on the state of ecommerce sites ahead of the holidays highlight the potential threats. More than half of these sites collect personally identifiable information. Many lack https and WAF (web application firewall) protection. 2. MSSP 250 company launches new service - MSSP 250 company Thales is launching a data risk intelligence solution, which combines the risk and threat identification capabilities of its CipherTrust Data Security Platform and Imperva Data Security Fabric to proactively identify, score, and mitigate risk to data, regardless of where it resides. The launch follows Thales’s strategic acquisition of Imperva in December 2023. 

3. Another MSSP 250 company launches new service -  MSSP 250 company Integrity360 has launched a managed attack surface management (ASM) service designed to address the growing complexities of securing diverse environments, including IT (information technology), operational technology (OT) and internet of things (IoT). The ASM service provides visibility into an organization’s attack surface which is important for proactive risk reduction, exposure management, and threat detection, the company said.

4. Sumo Logic AI rollout - SaaS log analytics platform provider Sumo Logic rolled out Mo Copilot at AWS re:Invent this week. The company says the tool is the first AI copilot for DevSecOps. The company is also demonstrating its prototype for the Generative Context Engine, which provides developer, security and IT operations teams with a single source of truth and remediation recommendations.

5. Wipro partners for SASE - Technology services and consulting company Wipro is partnering with SASE provider Netskope to provide global organizations with an integrated cybersecurity service. Wipro’s CyberTransformOptimization Service, powered by Netskope, analyzes organizations’ current cybersecurity and infrastructure investments, provides consolidation guidelines, and delivers cost-optimized methods resulting in improved business performance, the company said.
