Mastercard has completed its acquisition of Recorded Future, a threat intelligence company. Mastercard bought the company from Insight Partners for $2.65 billion. The deal expands the credit card company’s portfolio of cybersecurity services, adding AI analytics in addition to threat intelligence.
Insight had taken a controlling interest in Recorded Future in an all-cash transaction of more than $780 million in 2019.
Recorded Future’s client base includes governments in 45 countries and half of the Fortune 100.

1. Technology Alliance Partner Program – Bitdefender has launched a new Technology Alliance Partner Program with an eye to enhancing cybersecurity ecosystem integrations. Ecosystem integrations are the wave of the future, according to Canalys. Bitdefender said that the program simplifies and streamlines building, testing, validating, and documenting interoperability between partner technologies and the Bitdefender GravityZone Platform.
2. Healthcare cybersecurity outlook – The global healthcare cybersecurity market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19.2% between 2024 and 2032, according to a report from Cognate Insights. Certainly, healthcare is frequently named as a top vertical market by the MSSPs we talk to at MSSP Alert. The report cites the increasing digitization of healthcare services including electronic health records, telemedicine and mobile health apps. Healthcare is also a highly regulated market that requires compliance.
3. Top cybersecurity jobs – A new report from InfoSecTrain identifies the following as the top jobs in cybersecurity for 2025: security analyst, penetration tester, cloud security specialist, incident responder, chief information security officer (CISO). The report notes that the U.S. remains a leader in cybersecurity innovation and spending. Top trends to watch are increased cloud security demand as well as AI and automation integration.
4. FTC investigation? – AlterNet is reporting that the U.S. Federal Trade Commission is investigating Microsoft for bunding software together, including the bundling of its Microsoft Office products with cybersecurity and cloud computing services.
5. Airline cyberattack - Japan Airlines experienced a cyberattack on Thursday morning that disrupted the internal and external systems of the airlines, causing a temporary shutdown of a router and leading to malfunctions and the suspension of ticket sales. The airline now says that systems have returned to normal.
