MSSP Market Update: Top Priorities for CISOs

What are the top priorities for CISOs now and in 2025? As you are looking at your sales plan for next year, it may be a good idea to take a deep look at this new list of these priorities, compiled by MSSP Alert’s affiliate site, SCWorld.com.

You can probably guess a few of these immediately. After the CrowdStrike outage earlier this year, it’s no surprise that business continuity, incident response and crisis management are near the top of the list.

Today’s MSSP Update

1. Zero-day phishing protection - Pixm Security is offering zero-day phishing protection for users across SMS, social media platforms, and other non-email channels to the managed service provider (MSP) community. The company has also released an MSP channel partner program with discounted pricing. Pixm offers real-time protection at the browser level, including attachments. 

2. Seed funding round - McKinney, Texas-based ContraForce, a security service delivery platform company that says it “enables any MSP to effectively become an MSSP” has closed a $3.25 million seed funding round, co-led by GALLOS Ventures and DataTribe. The funding round enables ContraForce’s mission to leverage AI and to automate security operations, thus expanding the security services opportunity for managed service providers. ContraForce was also recently honored as an SC Awards winner for Most Promising Early-Stage Startup

3. Acquisition - Everfox, a provider of insider risk solutions and services across government, defense and critical infrastructure (formerly Forcepoint Federal), has announced the acquisition of Yakabod. The company said the deal will strengthen the its insider risk platform as well as its comprehensive suite of defense-grade cross domain and threat protection solutions. 

4. Security solution for enterprise - Splunk Enterprise Security 8.0 is now generally available for cloud customers. It provides improved SOC workflow experience, unified threat detection, investigation and response in addition to other improvements.

5. Platform update -  Seemplicity, the industry’s leading Remediation Operations (RemOps) platform provider, has rolled out the next generation of its flagship product, the Seemplicity Platform. These updates further solidify the company’s commitment to reshaping the vulnerability and exposure management landscape.

6. Secure private cloud - Broadcom is expanding the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Portfolio which provides a comprehensive, integrated private cloud platform and delivers public cloud scale and agility with on-premises, the edge, security, resilience and performance.

7. New phishing research - Cisco Talos’ new research detailing its discovery of a malicious phishing campaign impersonating a company’s legal department and targeting Facebook users in Taiwan since at least July 2024.  

8. New distribution partnership - Stamus Networks, a global provider of high-performance network-based threat detection and response (NDR) systems, has partnered with Titan Data Solutions to market Stamus Networks’ solutions throughout the U.K.
