MYKI, a password manager and authenticator company, has appointed Chris Tate as its global strategic alliances director, according to a prepared statement. Tate will officially join MYKI on April 14.
Tate previously served as business development director for EMEA at business continuity, network and business management company Datto. He has many years of experience within the MSP community and is expected to help MYKI extend its channel reach, the company stated.
MYKI provides password management and two-factor authentication (2FA) for MSPs. The company enables MSPs to store and secure internal and customers' passwords offline and manage passwords from a single interface.
In addition, MYKI offers an MSP portal that allows service providers to manage clients, licenses and teams via a web application. The MYKI solution also works in combination with various remote monitoring and management (RMM), professional services automation (PSA) and documentation platforms and helps MSPs comply with data security mandates.
Password Management: Customer Challenges
The Tate hire could bolster MYKI's channel presence, as well as enable the company to help MSPs address poor password security among global organizations.
Password management is being rapidly adopted by organizations worldwide, according to the "2019 Global Password Security Report" from password manager company LastPass. However, LastPass' report also indicated that password reuse remains widespread.
Organizations require education and training to ensure employees understand the dangers associated with password reuse, LastPass stated. Furthermore, MSPs can provide password security best practices and tutorials to help organizations improve their cybersecurity programs.
MSP Password Management & 2FA Solutions
Multiple software companies now promote password management, identity management, and multi-factor authentication to MSPs and on through to end-customers. Key names to know, in addition to Myki, include Passly from Kaseya's ID Agent; Passportal from SolarWinds MSP; and Duo from Cisco Systems, among others.
