Open Systems, a secure access service edge (SASE) and SD-WAN provider, has purchased Microsoft Azure Sentinel specialist Born in the Cloud. Financial terms were not disclosed.
This is M&A deal number 217 that ChannelE2E and MSSP Alert have covered so far in 2020. See the complete M&A deal list here.
The Born in the Cloud acquisition bolsters Open Systems' Azure Sentinel security information and event management (SIEM) expertise, the company said. It also supports Open Systems' mission to provide Azure Sentinel services to global enterprises.
A Closer Look at Born in the Cloud
Born in the Cloud offers a Sentinel Made Simple service that uses the following process to help organizations leverage Azure Sentinel to detect, investigate and respond to security events:
- Collection of data across an organization's users, devices, applications and infrastructure, both on-premises and in multiple clouds
- Detection of cyber threats and elimination of false positives using Microsoft analytics and threat intelligence
- Investigation of threats with artificial intelligence and threat hunting
- Incident response with built-in orchestration and automation of common tasks
In addition, Born in the Cloud provides managed security operations center (SOC), Azure and Microsoft 365 services.
Open Systems Offers Azure Sentinel with MDR Service
The deal surfaces after Open Systems earlier this month introduced a managed detection and response (MDR) service that leverages Azure Sentinel SIEM. Open Systems' MDR service complements the networking capabilities of its SASE solution and its SASE-delivered SD-WAN, the company indicated.
With Open Systems' MDR service, organizations can continuously monitor and detect cyber threats, the company noted. They also can use the service to securely drive digital transformation and promote the use of mobile devices, edge computing and the cloud.
Open Systems' MDR service is now offered in early access, and it is expected to be generally available in the third quarter of 2020.

Azure Sentinel and MSSPs
Multiple MSSPs (managed security services providers) now integrate with Azure Sentinel in various ways. True believers in the MSSP sector include CyberProof, New Signature and Trustwave.
