Palo Alto Networks has reached an agreement to purchase Dig Security for an undisclosed sum.
This is technology M&A deal number 296 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2023.
Palo Alto Networks, founded in 2005, is based in Santa Clara, California. The company has 14,473 associated members listed on LinkedIn. Palo Alto Networks' areas of expertise include cloud, endpoint and network security.
Dig, founded in 2021, is based in Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel. The company has 89 associated members listed on LinkedIn. Dig specializes in data security posture management (DSPM).
Data Security Posture Management Is Key for Cloud Security
Research indicates that nearly 70% of organizations have data stored in the public cloud, Palo Alto Networks pointed out.
Meanwhile, as more organizations explore and adopt generative artificial intelligence, data is becoming more spread out than ever before across cloud services, Palo Alto Networks said. And at this point, many organizations need help identifying their data, managing user access and implementing security measures to protect against internal and external threats.
Moreover, the high volume and significant impact of cloud data breaches continue to cause problems for organizations, Palo Alto Networks stated. Now, with DPSM, organizations can build and maintain a comprehensive cloud security strategy that they can use to guard against such issues.
Palo Alto Networks Bolsters Its Code-to-Cloud Platform
Dig provides Palo Alto Networks with a DSPM solution that organizations can use to discover, classify, monitor and protect data across their cloud data stores, the companies said. By doing so, Dig gives Palo Alto Networks' customers visibility into and control of their multi-cloud data estate.
Furthermore, Dig's capabilities will be integrated into Palo Alto Networks' Prisma Cloud platform, the companies noted. This will provide organizations with near real-time data protection from code to cloud.
Palo Alto Networks Unveils Code to Cloud Intelligence
The Dig acquisition announcement comes after Palo Alto Networks in October 2023 introduced Code to Cloud intelligence as part of its Prisma Cloud Darwin release.
Code to Cloud intelligence lets organizations dive "deep into patterns, behaviors and anomalies across code, cloud infrastructure and cloud runtime," Palo Alto Networks noted. That way, organizations can prevent security problems from escalating as they build and deploy applications.
Palo Alto Networks offers cybersecurity products, solutions and services to help organizations protect their digital way of life, according to the company. It also provides the NextWave Partner Community for MSSPs, MSPs and other channel vendors.
