Rackspace, SailPoint Partner for AWS, Azure Identity Governance

Share

Rackspace, a managed dedicated and cloud computing services provider, has joined the SailPoint cloud hosting partner program.

The company now offers a managed service provider (MSP) solution that enables organizations to deploy SailPoint's IdentityIQ identity management software or SecurityIQ data security platform in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure environments, according to a prepared statement.

IdentityIQ empowers organizations with visibility across cloud and on-premises applications and data, SailPoint indicated. By doing so, IdentityIQ enables organizations to deploy prevention and detection controls to ensure user access falls within a corporate policy at all times.

SecurityIQ safeguards access to sensitive data that resides outside of an organization's applications and databases, SailPoint noted. It allows organizations to simultaneously govern user access across all applications and sensitive information and reduce data risk.

A Closer Look at Rackspace and the Managed Security Services Market

Rackspace provides IT-as-a-service (ITaaS) to organizations of all sizes and across all industries, and the SailPoint partnership is one of several recent moves that further extends the company's reach in the managed security services market.

For example, Rackspace last month announced three new Google Cloud Platform (GCP) offerings:

  • Customer Reliability Engineering (CRE) Program.
  • Rackspace Managed Security (RMS) – Proactive Detection and Response.
  • RMS – Compliance Assistance.

These offerings enable organizations to streamline breach detection and remediation and quickly identify and respond to advanced cyber threats, according to Rackspace. They also empower organizations with enhanced application reliability, resiliency, uptime and cloud security.

Rackspace previously unveiled its Managed Security and Compliance Assistance for GCP in March. The service is currently available for new and existing GCP customers.

What Does the Future Hold for Rackspace?

Apollo Global Management, a private equity firm, purchased Rackspace for $4.3 billion in 2016. Since that time, Rackspace announced layoffs and a CEO change. The company also acquired Datapipe, a managed hosting services provider, and enterprise app management firm TriCore Solutions.

Rackspace today supports more than 140,000 customers worldwide, including most of the Fortune 100. In addition, Rackspace provides managed public cloud services to more than 1,100 customers.

Rumors persist that a Rackspace initial public offering (IPO) could arrive later this year. Some investors have speculated that Rackspace could be worth as much as $10 billion.
