Palo Alto Networks has launched its Cortex eXtended Managed Detection and Response (XMDR) Partner Specialization for MSSPs and channel partners.
The Cortex XMDR Specialization empowers MSSPs to use Cortex XDR for threat detection, investigation and containment, the company stated. MSSPs, in turn, gain visibility into their customers' network, endpoint and cloud assets. They also can work with Palo Alto Networks' cybersecurity experts to explore ways to accelerate threat response and remediation, the security company indicated.
MXDR Specialization Requirements, Initial MSSP Partners
To earn the Cortex XMDR Specialization, Palo Alto Networks' MSSP partners must have XDR-certified SOC analysts or threat hunters on staff who are available 24/7, the company stated. They also must complete technical and sales enablement and specialization examinations.
Several Top 250 MSSPs have earned the Cortex XMDR Specialization, including:
- CriticalStart
- Orange Cyberdefense
- PwC
- Trustwave
The Cortex XMDR Specialization is the first specialization for the NextWave Managed Service Program (MSP), Palo Alto Networks indicated. NextWave includes nearly 300 partners around the world that use Palo Alto Networks security technology to provide managed security services.
Palo Alto Networks Cortex XDR 3.0, Rivals Make Moves
The Cortex XMDR Specialization surfaces roughly three months after Palo Alto Networks unveiled Cortex XDR 3.0. That upgrade included extended detection, monitoring and investigation for cloud environments and identity analytics capabilities.
Cortex XDR leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning to help organizations stop cyberattacks, Palo Alto Networks said. It also provides security analytics and visibility into cyber threats.
Although the XDR market is growing rapidly, competition also is intensifying. A case in point: Open XDR security software provider Stellar Cyber today announced $38 million in Series B funding, led by Highland Capital Partners. Additional investor participants include Samsung Next.
Stellar Cyber focuses aggressively on MSSP partners.
